Summer Reading Contest!

Summer Reading Contest!

Have you ever heard of the “Summer Slide”?
The “Summer Slide” is when a child falls back over their
 school-free Summer break.

Did You Know?
Children can slip back up to three months
or more over the Summer!

What Can You Do?
Books open up the world to children! We know that reading is the gateway to all of the other subject areas. One suggestion is reading for at least 20 minutes five days a week!

With that said we proudly introduce our Summer Reading Contest! Just pick a few books off the attached reading lists and color in the worksheets for every 10-20 minutes of reading done each day! Then bring it back on August 29 to
our Farewell Luau for a prize!

Just print the Summer Reading Contest Packet and let the fun begin!

Weekly Healthy Snacking Tip!

Children need healthy foods because their bodies require the nutrients to grow. Did you know a child who is given healthy foods will receive a lifetime bonus of a stronger mind and body, and a child who is deprived of healthy foods or given too many unhealthy foods can face decades of physical and mental health problems?

Parents can give children healthy foods, but because older children spend so much unsupervised time with their peers, it is important to teach children about the benefits of healthy eating when they are young, so they will seek out healthy foods on their own as teens and adults

For these reasons and so many more, every Wednesday The Goddard of Wall School will be posting new healthy snaking tips to our Twitter and Facebook pages! These tips will not only be helpful for you to keep the kids happy with delicious foods, but also keep them healthy with different nutritious decisions. Most importantly these healthy snacks will also be featured on the snack menu here at The Goddard of Wall!
